Welcome to this section of SCH150: Drugs, Society, & Human Behavior taught by Professor Cabana.
This section of SCH150 is a zero-textbook cost course. All of your readings, videos, and supplementary material will be available online or in class. We will be using this CUNY Academic Commons website, Blackboard, and LaGuardia CC e-Portfolio throughout the semester. You will need to have consistent access to all three.
Course Objectives:
- To examine the role of psycho-active substances in human cultures and societies through interdisciplinary perspectives, e.g., anthropology, sociology, psychology, political science, biology, and public health
- To increase knowledge of the effects of different psychoactive substances on the individual and society
- To facilitate open and honest communication the nature of substance use, abuse and addiction
